This easy recipe looks impressive but is fit for company. It is a great combination of sweet and savory. The flavors just taste like fall! We like it best served with rice. Makes a very pretty presentation with a green vegetable on the side.
Harvest Apple Pork Chops
- 4 pork chops
- Olive oil, coconut oil, lard or other oil to brown the chops in (about 1-2 T)
- 1/4 C sucanat or brown sugar
- 1/4 t cinnamon
- 1/8 t nutmeg
- 1/4 C butter
- 1 apple, cored, sliced and cut into chunks
- 1/2 onion, sliced
- Brown pork chops in oil. Place in 9x9 pan or shallow covered casserole dish.
- Mix sucanat with spices.
- Melt butter in same pan used to brown the pork chops. Add spices and stir. Add apple and onion; saute.
- Pour apple/onion mixture on top of chops. Cover.
- Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
