Sports enthusiasts especially will appreciate "The One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge" by Tony Dungy.  This daily devotional is full of sports analogies and experiences of the Super-Bowl winning coach/author.  Mr. Dungy's personal discipline is evident in his writing, yet as a reader, I didn't feel like I was attending boot camp.  Instead, his gentle urging, patient instruction, and Christian encouragement made me want to pick up this devotional every morning.

Every day, there is a short life-lesson that begins with Scripture and focuses on one of these seven themes:
  • Core
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Potential
  • Mission
  • Influence
  • Faith
Every day, each devotion ends with an "Uncommon Key".  This part can be like a mini-assignment, or at least to get you thinking more about you just read.  I found these to be a great launching point for prayer.  Or if you are using this book in a group setting, the "Uncommon Key" would also be a great discussion topic.

No matter who you are or where you are in your life, I would recommend this book.  I'm not a huge sports fan, but I am thoroughly enjoying this devotional.  The daily inspiration and Christian outlook can help hone the lives of even the strongest players in the game of life, and hearten those who are struggling.
