Harvest Apple Pork Chops

This easy recipe looks impressive but is fit for company.  It is a great combination of sweet and savory.  The flavors just taste like fall!  We like it best served with rice.  Makes a very pretty presentation with a green vegetable on the side.

Harvest Apple Pork Chops

  • 4 pork chops
  • Olive oil, coconut oil, lard or other oil to brown the chops in (about 1-2 T)
  • 1/4 C sucanat or brown sugar
  • 1/4 t cinnamon
  • 1/8 t nutmeg
  • 1/4 C butter
  • 1 apple, cored, sliced and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  1. Brown pork chops in oil.  Place in 9x9 pan or shallow covered casserole dish.
  2. Mix sucanat with spices.
  3. Melt butter in same pan used to brown the pork chops.  Add spices and stir.  Add apple and onion; saute.
  4. Pour apple/onion mixture on top of chops.  Cover.
  5. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
