As a home school family, the last thing we do for the school year is achievement testing. You've never seen two kids so excited to do achievement tests, I'll bet, but our little pupils look forward to it every year.
Those tests are symbolic of passing the threshold of yet another childhood milestone and give a snapshot of all their efforts during the year.
Home schooling has been such a blessing for our family. (Click here if you'd like more info...) It is challenging, fun, exasperating, joyous, time-consuming, time-saving and so much more. I can't imagine not teaching my children at home and knowing exactly what they are being taught. I think the best part of home schooling is that I get to really know my kiddos along the way.
Kids around here that attend the local public schools will be in class for about another month. Their school year started with a week-long teachers' strike which could keep make the last day of school to be June 24. So much for a summer vacation.
No matter. We're lighting the Victory Candle tonight, for sure, and praying for a little sunshine.
