Yummy Homemade Granola

Even granola can have ingredients that aren't healthful in it.  Granola is so easy to make, and so satisfying.  Here's a great recipe that I couldn't keep my family out of...

Yummy Healthy Granola
  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup sucanat
  • 1/2 C walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 C almonds, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 C sesame, sunflower and/or pumpkin seeds
  • 2 t ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 C apple sauce
  • 2 T honey
  • 2 t pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 C dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1/3 cup dried blueberries or snipped dried apricots or apples

  1. In a mixing bowl, stir together oats, sucanat, walnuts, almonds, seeds and cinnamon.
  2. In a small bowl mix apple sauce, salt, honey and vanilla. Drizzle over the cereal and stir to coat. Spread the mixture onto a large baking sheet with sides. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375º, stirring every 5 to 7 minutes, until the granola is crisp and golden.
  3. Store in an airtight container.
Enjoy with milk or as a topping for yogurt, ice cream or fruit salad.
